What is H3 Tritium and how does it work? Tritium is a hydrogen (H) atom that has two neutrons in the nucleus, in addition to its single proton, giving it an atomic weight near three (chemical symbol: H3). Tritium is produced naturally in the upper atmosphere and its common form is in water. Tritium gas is also produced in reactor for diverse commercial purposes. In wristwatches, tritium is hermetically sealed in small glass tubes coated with a phosphorescent paint. The paint and the gas create a chemical reaction that produces a permanent colorful light. Tritium has a half life (T25) of +/- 12.5 years. We use the world highest quality tritium produced in Switzerland. Mossy Oak Watches H3 illumination system is guaranteed for 10 years. |
